Endless wilderness is one thing Argentina has plenty of, but surprisingly enough, wildlife is something you don’t see much of. Except on the Peninsula Valdès that is.

In a tiny zodiac dingy you get so close you can almost touch these ocean giants. You can spend the rest of the day driving along the coast in your hire car in search of sea elephants, penguins, dolphins and killer whales. If you take a stroll along the beach at sunset, you’re likely to spot whale tails breaching the ocean waves. Click here for more details on our Visit Patagonia trip.

During this Argentina tour you’ll go on a boat trip right along the towering wall of ice and see huge chunks of ice that have just broken off the glacier. You can also book an optional tour to the world’s largest glacier and spend the day sailing amongst the icebergs.

Travel Argentina: Patagonia trip Tierra del Fuego: gateway to the South Pole

Duration: 4 days / 3 nights
Price: £235 per person - based on 2 people
Departure: daily
Route: Ushuaia - Beagle Channel - Martillo Island - Ushuaia
Ushuaia is the southernmost town in Patagonia and, in fact, in all of Latin America. Although the region Tierra del Fuego conjures up romantic images, windswept plains and a settlement of worn-down wooden huts exposed to the elements, these days Ushuaia is a lively tourist town set on a usually calm bay. This is the last stop on the continent before Antarctica and about as close you can get to the South Pole without leaving the shore. As part of this Argentina adventure tour you’ll go hiking in the Tierra del Fuego National Park and, during a boat trip along the Beagle Channel, you can breathe in the salty sea breeze and imagine yourself as part of Charles Darwin’s crew on his 19th Century epic voyage.
