We’ll take care of your airport transfer from Puerto Iguazu. Your hotel has a pool with sunbeds and parasols and the rooms have A/C.If you prefer, we can book your first two nights in Puerto Iguazu at the Yacutinga Eco lodge, one of the most prestigious in its category in Argentina. Day 2 - Puerto IguazúVisiting the Iguazu National Park independently is very easy and it means you can go at your own pace for this part of your Iguazu Falls tour. There’s a bus stop close to your hotel where buses depart every 30 minutes to the park entrance. The trip to the entrance takes about 20 minutes where you pay a fee and hop onto the little park train that will take you to the walkway along the river. On the way, you’ll spot lots of coatis, a type of raccoon. They’re completely used to the tourists here and will come right up to you.At the end of the walkway, you’ll cross a footbridge across the Parana River to reach the ‘Devil’s Throat’, right at the heart of the waterfalls. As you approach, you can hear the deafening roar of the water thundering into the canyon, the real highlight of your Iguazu Falls tour. Back at the park entrance, take a bus or taxi back to your hotel. Its a good idea to ask at hotel reception whether the park is open in the evening, as occasionally the park stays open longer. It’s a lot quieter and seeing the waterfalls in moonlight is simply magical. |
Day 3 - Puerto Iguazú - Foz do Iguaçu, BrazilAfter breakfast, you’ll be picked up by minibus around 9am and, together with a small international group, you’ll make your way to Brazil, for the next stop on your Iguazu Falls tour. The Brazilian side of Iguaçu Falls (slightly different spelling here) is totally different to the Argentine side. As the Brazilians say - ‘Argentina has the waterfalls but we have the view’. It's true - 80% of the falls are in Argentina but, from the walkway on the Brazilian side you’ll get the best view. From the border, you’ll drive on to the town of Foz do Iguaçu and then further into the rainforest and the Iguaçu Visitor Centre. Once you’ve paid the entrance fee, (US$11 per person) the bus will continue to hotel Cataratas, the starting point of the trail along the waterfalls. The trail leads past the lower Iguaçu river where all the water from the falls ends up. If the wind’s blowing from the right direction you’ll be rewarded by a beautiful rainbow in the mist of the falls. You’ll be picked up again at the entrance and transferred to your hotel just outside the Brazilian park. |

Optional jet boat trips up the river to the waterfalls or a helicopter ride can be arranged locally with your guide, or at hotel reception. The nearby Parque das Aves is also very interesting. It’s a bird park close to the Brazilian Visitor Centre where you can walk through huge aviaries among ara parrots, macaws, toucans and other birds with exotic colours and plumage.

Further informationThe best time to travel on the Iguazu Falls tour is September – December and March – May. Between November - April temperatures can get very hot, with day time temperatures above 30c. Between May – September temperatures average 22C with an increased chance of bad weather. It’s too cold to sit by the pool and you’ll need a warm sweater or jacket. Summer holidays in Argentina and Brazil are from mid-December to the end of February. This is high season (covering New Year and Carnival) so it's busier and more expensive. Many tour operators book a three-course dinner show in the evening. Huge buffets are served in big halls while watching a big glitzy spectacle at the Falls. If it sounds like fun, you can easily arrange a dinner locally but, on this Iguazu Falls tour, you might prefer to head into Puerto Iguazu for food. The Tio Querido Restaurant and Grill, El Puerto (fish/Spanish) and La Rueda (pasta) are just a few suggestions. They’re all in the centre, have a great local atmosphere and good food. |
